Utopia

About The Project

Eevolver was excited to work on Travis Scott’s ‘Circus Maximus’ Movie,  for his ‘Utopia’ Music Videos. The film — which played in AMC theaters on the album’s  release date — VFX supervisor Jason Chen had the vision for the VFX on the project.
Eevolver worked with Cactus Jack Films and Jason Chen to recreate Catalonia, Spain’s famous Tarraco arena in CGI along with a tournament of human towers (Castellers) in which he himself participates. It is a technically impressive piece revolving around Castellers, the Catalan human tower sport.
The Tarraco arena interior and exterior were accurately replicated in CGI and filled with over thirty thousand CGI spectators. The CG crowds had to seamlessly match the look, motion, and clothing of the live action extras. Eevolver’s team created and integrated over 30,000 CGI humans using both 3D and 2D techniques, matching the real and tactile world these scenes were based on.

The CG crowds had to seamlessly match the look, motion, and clothing of the live-action extras. By integrating both 3D and 2D techniques,

Our entire crew mirrored the film with teams in four different time zones throughout the world, making communication seamless by using our cloud-based workflow. As Travis Scott takes his audience on a mind-bending visual odyssey across the globe, woven together by the speaker-rattling sounds of his recently released album ‘Utopia.’
